Computing

As computers become used in all areas of our lives, pupils studying computing develop an understanding of how a computer works and how they can program it to make it solve problems.  It is extremely rewarding  to discover that you have caused a computer to solve a problem which would have taken a human many days.

AS and A level

We teach Computing in the Eighth Form, following AQA’s specification (pdf),where defining problems and programming to solve them lie at the heart of the course. The major part of the AS exam is on-screen, and the A2 involves a substantial coding project.

After St Paul’s

Whether studying Computing or not, boys can learn to develop their programming skills.  Paulines regularly do well in the British Informatics Olympiad competition, and have represented the UK.
