Societies & activities
Craig Brown reads from his work — Book Club
St Paul’s provides over 40 societies, clubs and activities for boys.
Societies are open to all. Boys are encouraged to join any that they are interested in and to explore other opportunities — regardless of previous experience.
A word about Clubs … and clubs
You'll also hear us talking about Clubs — not clubs as in groups or societies keen on an activity (though, confusingly, we use “clubs” for these, too), but in another sense.
We have eight Clubs, A–H: every pupil is assigned to a Club and stays with that Club throughout his time at St Paul’s. A Club, in this sense, is our equivalent of what in a boarding school would be your House.
Societies often meet in our long lunch-break each day. They frequently mount trips or invite in outside speakers to keep their meetings lively and their enthusiasm fresh. A selection of what’s on offer can be browsed here.
Many of our staff lead these societies, often introducing their own wide interests or bringing deeper aspects of their subject to life outside of the classroom.
From drama societies to photography, jazz bands to orchestra, student investor to Amnesty International, each pupil has the opportunity to develop his interests into a lifelong passion.
