Tower Bridge Twittering
At St Paul’s, we take a keen interest in new and emerging technologies. We have been experimenting recently with the open source Arduino hardware.
In this project, Oliver Rokison, Technology, ICT and Computing teacher, built a working paper model of Tower Bridge, connected it via Arduino gear to the Tower Bridge Twitter account — and the result is a model that mimics the movements of the real bridge.
This video is used in our Fourth form (Year 9) ICT course. The full, annotated Arduino code is available for downloading in two zipped files: set clock (a compiled version of the clock syncing Processing sketch from the Arduino website) and Arduino code (self-explanatory).

The Tower Bridge Twitter account was set up by Tom Armitage. Tom has written about the creation of this feed: Making Bridges Talk.
