Chamber Music success
For the second year running, the Wassermann String Quartet triumphed at the prestigious London chamber music competition, Spring Grove.
Francis Melville (viola), Joseph Swartzentruber (violin), Gilbert Wassermann (violin) (Year 12, Lower Eighth) and Josef Herman (cello; Year 13, Upper Eighth) saw off excellent competition from a host of London schools and privately run chamber groups, producing a winning performance of Schubert’s String Quartet No. 14, ‘Death and the Maiden’. They were presented with a trophy and £350 in prize money.
The competition benefits the elderly under the auspices of homes within the Springdene Group.
