Young Enterprise 2012

Many congratulations to Team Endeavour who cleared three rounds of this year’s Young Enterprise competition, securing a place in the London final next month.

Young Enterprise is a competition that runs all year round. Students create and run a business, going through the entire process of product development, market research, sales, marketing and financial management. At the end of the year, students compete in a series of rounds and are tested on a company report, a trade stand and a five minute presentation.

Team Endeavour, having won Best Presentation and coming runners-up in the Richmond and Kingston final, managed to overtake Team Alpha from Tiffin Girls’ School and walk away with the Best Overall Company and Most Innovative Product awards at the South London finals. The judges were impressed by the team’s use of technology, the interesting and innovative application of Polyflav plastic, and the work done in marketing and selling the pencil.

Two other teams from St Paul’s entered this year’s competition. Team Meta’s product, the Doodlecase, helped them win the Best Marketing Material award at the Richmond and Kingston final. Team Edge came up with a new folder with a replaceable clip and were unlucky to be knocked out in the preliminary stages of the competition.

Read about last year’s success: Team Summit won the 2011 Young Enterprise Company of the Year Award and then went on to become the first British team to win the JA-YE Europe Company of the Year championship in over a decade, achievements recognised by an invitation to visit George Osborne in 11 Downing Street.
