Biathlon successes
At the end of last term, Jack Boericke, Hugo Fleming and Jungwoo Yang (Sixth form, Year 11), competed in the Schools’ National Biathlon Championships finals at Crystal Palace. Each set new personal bests — in the 1000m run and the 100m long-course swim — and they took the team silver medal.
Hugo also won a trophy for individually achieving 5th place and a medal for the fastest run of the day (2:31.87). This helped the team to the best time for the run, with only their swimming performance denying them overall 1st place.
Hugo also came 1st in the 800m at the South of England Athletics Indoor Championships, qualifying for the England Athletics Indoor Championships, where he won the silver medal in a personal best time of 1:55.28 — a new school U17 record, beating his previous school record by over 4 seconds.
