Pre-season U15s rugby

33 of this year’s Fifth form rugby players headed to Edinburgh at the end of last month for a pre-season tour timed to coincide with the Edinburgh Fringe, an exciting time of year to visit the Scottish capital. Looked after outstandingly well by Fettes College, where they trained in the mornings, the players enjoyed a variety of Fringe performances in the evenings as well as taking in a match at Murrayfield.

The squad played two matches on tour, overcoming a scratch Perth Academy side 27–5 before taking on George Watson’s College. In a well contested fixture, St Paul’s turned around at the break just 10–7 up, with the home side dominating the close exchanges. Playing downhill in the second half, our team eventually started to get on top and ran out 40–12 winners — a good augury, we hope, for the season now starting.
