A record seven crews raced the school’s fleet of RS Feva XLs in the Queen Mary Youth Open Regatta at the start of half-term.

With a good turnout from Fourth formers (Year 9), we competed against crews from several clubs and schools, including local rivals Hampton.

Ed Conder (Upper Eighth, Year 13) and Harry Dent (Lower Eighth, Year 12) were the top placed St Paul’s crew overall, coming in behind three crews from the national youth squad — a very respectable result. Arthur Doyle and Ben Waha (Fifth form, Year 10) coped well with the fickle wind in the last race, finishing third.

Strong results from the rest of the squad, including Fourth formers James Cole and Alex Gresty, made it a great start to the sailing year. Sadly, not enough crews from other schools had entered for us to be eligible to claim the schools’ trophy.

Full results are available from the Queen Mary Sailing Club.
