Sailing season starts with Bart’s Bash

The St Paul’s Sailing Squad started the season with a splash in the largest sailing event in the world, Bart’s Bash.

The annual fundraiser took place at Queen Mary Sailing Club and is held in memory of the Olympic sailor Andrew Simpson who died while training for the America’s cup two years ago.

The race which took place on Sunday 20th September saw 7594 competitors at 467 venues in 62 countries take part.

Great performances were demonstrated from the whole squad for the first race of the season. Huge congratulations go out to Josh Waha and Harry Forsyth, who finished 1st in the Feva fleet at the local race.

Money raised from the event is used to encourage young people to take up the sport.
