Tennis
I look forward to football and tennis. I like to play against my friends. — 4th former
Tennis is played enthusiastically at the school, and there are A and B teams at senior, U15 and U14 level. As well as playing friendly matches both on Saturday afternoons and during the week, we participate in a number of national competitions, including the Glanvill Cup and the Thomas Bowl.
We also compete in the Surrey League, which involves three doubles pairs in each team. At Surrey level, there is also the Rootham Shield, where there is a chance to play both singles and doubles.
One of the highlights of the season is the Independent Schools League, which now comprises at least 16 schools from the south-east of England. Again there is both singles and doubles play, organised as four leagues, and there is fierce competition for promotion to a higher division.
We are lucky to have the services of Mark Magrath as our chief coach, and offer free coaching to all team players over a period of nine hours in every week.
