2002 Exam Results
|
92.5% of A Level boys scoring As or Bs, 96.3% AS Level takers scoring A, B or C and 92.5% of GCSE boys achieving A* or A. This year's league tables confirmed the domination of St Paul's, along with five other leading schools, whose position has not moved out of the top flight for four consecutive years. |
St Paul's ran away with the top honours in virtually every newspaper's report of GCSE results and in A Level reports, depending on the newspaper, ranked from 3rd to 6th. High Master, Stephen Baldock, was quoted in one newspaper saying that the School's GCSE results were better than any previous year's achievements. He also said that despite wanting one's pupils to succeed coming top of the league tables was not a priority. "I think that most heads regard tables as both volatile and representative of only a small aspect of the total education a school is trying to offer. One of the things I'm most pleased about is that every one of our GCSE boys has taken at least one creative or practical subject, such as art, drama, music or design and technology. We're not simply an academic package".
The teaching staff, pupils and parents must be delighted with this year's exam results but that success, along with the richness and multiplicity of subjects/activities on offer at the School, combine to make an SPS education a unique experience.
