Some statistics from GCE reviews are given below - GCSE are similar.

There were 196 subject re-mark requests, 24 creating a change of grade (all upward in 2014). This involved 263 individual scripts being re-marked.

  • 7 script marks went down by 5 or more and 3 of these by 8 or more (maximum 13)
  • 24 went down by 4 or less
  • 136 stayed the same
  • 51 went up by 4 or less
  • 45 went up by 5 or more and 17 of these by 8 or more (maximum 25)
  • Some subjects experience bigger swings than others – Maths, Latin, the Sciences tend to move less, RE, History, English rather more, but this is just a general rule – we have occasionally seen maths papers move more than 10!
