    Another record for GCSE results

This year's cohort broke all previous records. This is despite the fact that for the first time all candidates took the harder IGCSE in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Notable results were the entire entry for Chemistry (85 boys), Italian (61 boys) and Spanish (50 boys) gaining A*s, and in Maths 167 out of 170 boys gaining A*s. The results overall confirm the reputation of St Paul's as a school which gets outstanding results for boys, flying in the face of the conventional wisdom which states that girls do better at GCSE.

We shall display our results subject-by-subject later in the year, once the outcomes of any appeals are known (see here for more information on publication of detailed results).

Some Exam Boards notify candidates whose performances place them in the top ten best marks. Paulines have regularly appeared in the top ten and this year is no exception.

IGCSE Biology (3,855 entries), Chemistry (3,506 entries): in each subject, 1 pupil placed in the top 10 marks.

GCSE French (47,211 entries): 7 pupils placed in the top 10 marks.

GCSE Geography (13,122 entries): 1 pupil placed in the top 10 marks.

GCSE Spanish (15,756 entries): 13 pupils placed in the top 10 marks.

GCSE German (19,484 entries): 4 pupils placed in the top 10 marks.

GCSE Italian (2,357 entries): 28 pupils placed in the top 10 marks.
