Matt Goldhill - best debater in Europe?

A team of eight Paulines - George Barnes, Will Attenborough, Alex Echlin, Ricky Fegelman, Matt Goldhill, Eli Martin, Seb McGinty, and Jez Strong - took part in the European Youth Parliament, held at the Erasmiaans Gymnasium in Rotterdam between 6th and 10th February.  They spent four days working with students from Holland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden and Spain, writing and debating resolutions on a variety of topics, among them economic integration in the EU, a common EU foreign policy, problems in European cities and measures for increased cultural and social integration.

They also participated in various team-building exercises, which included giving a presentation about their city of origin and debating European topics with a team of Dutch businessmen.  Particular congratulations to Matt Goldhill, who won the Ernst & Young trophy for best debater - and to all of the team for their enthusiastic and lively contributions to this event.  For more information see www.eeyp-rotterdam.org.
