Nepal and Bhutan trip 2009
The last day of the Easter term saw 21 5th formers and 5 staff set off to Khatmandu, the capital of Nepal. We visited several Bhuddist and Hindu temples, were entertained to tea at the British Embassy by the Deputy Ambassador (wife of OP Barnaby Willets-King), went mountain-biking in the Khatmandu valley and visited the Chitwan National Park for an elephant safari.
We then flew to Bhutan, Kingdom of the Thunder Dragon, where walks included the climb to the Tiger's Nest and Cherry Monasteries, as well as a 3 day trek from the Haa to the Paro Valleys. Returning to Khatmandu, there were fantastic views from the plane of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest.
In all, a wonderful trip and an opportunity to see two very different cultures, both hugely different to the UK.
