The Drama Centre which houses the department’s facilities and the Samuel Pepys Theatre, was unveiled in 2014. The new theatre and the studio spaces host more than fifteen productions each year in which enthusiastic boys have ample opportunities to act in a wide range of styles and to learn technical skills in lighting, sound and projection. There is also an opportunity for some to turn their hand to directing; each year budding directors can take part in our Young Directors’ Weekend and Showcase, for which boys select, direct and perform a short piece of theatre.
We also do regular work with the Lyric, Hammersmith such as a co-production of ‘Fame’, studio productions of a dance and physical theatre double bill ‘Standing in the Light’ and of ‘Immortal’ and a planned co-production for Summer 2016.
To support the many drama productions, we have a full-time theatre technical manager and a theatre technician. Young professional designers are recruited to work on the three main productions of the year.
Tickets for productions are available through our dedicated booking site.
