10th Anniversary of the Spring Fling

The Spring Fling took place at the Science Museum on Thursday 12 March. Despite the current climate meaning that tough decisions were involved for many as to whether to attend the event, the evening was a great success.

A standout year, this being the 10^th anniversary of the event and the first time that the evening involved both the junior and senior schools, an outstanding total of £115,000 was raised for the St Paul’s School Bursary Fund, thanks to the generosity of those who attended and took part in the various fundraising challenges and initiatives of the evening, as well as those who bid on auction items at home. The evening was punctuated with excellent musical performances by pupils from the junior and senior schools: jazz musicians played during the drinks reception, performers from ‘Drumline’ played guests into dinner, the SPJ Cabaret troupe provided light-hearted entertainment with a range of favourite show tunes, and finally, Aaron Reyes-Bordado performed a rousing medley from Oliver!. Robin Beattie (OP 1986-91) spoke passionately about the opportunities that the gift of a bursary at St Paul’s opened to him and the positive effect it has had on his adult life. He finished by encouraging the audience to support the Bursary Appeal. The Upper Eighth pupils who form the Thomas Gresham Bursary Fund Committee delighted and entertained with their role in running the raffle and ‘Heads and Tails’ game. Thank you to all who made the evening a resounding successes, bringing the school closer to its aim of making a St Paul’s education accessible to every deserving boy, regardless of his family’s circumstances.

For those who would like to continue this legacy, as the school inches closer to the target of funding 153 bursaries in the school at any one time, all in the St Paul’s School community are invited to consider becoming members of the 1509 Society.
