1st VIII breaks record at the Schools’ Head

St Paul’s 1st VIII set new record for the Schools’ Head of the river and St Paul’s Boat Club wins the Thames Team Trophy for the fastest three crews.

Despite a wet and cold start to this year’s Schools’ Head, St Paul’s 1st VIII gathered great speed to win the event, with a superb time of 00:16:40.6. The committed team broke the course record by 7 seconds, formerly held by Eton College since 2009. Cheers from the Boat house and Hammersmith Bridge continued as the 3rd VIII took first place in its category, followed by the 2nd VIII and Junior 16 VIII both in second place. The Junior 15 VIII was placed fourth, with the Junior 16 IV and 2nd Junior 15 VIII being placing sixth and tenth respectively.

For the sixth year running, the St Paul’s Boat Club brought home the Thames Team Trophy, presented for the fastest aggregate time of the club’s fastest three crews. Once everyone had dried off, rowers and spectators alike, the celebrations continued as the winners collected their well-deserved medals and trophies.

A superb result!
