St Paul’s enjoyed a busy and competitive week of cricket fixtures, with notable performances across several age groups.
SPS v Whitgift (2 May, Away)
The 1st XI produced an excellent performance to secure victory in a rain-affected match. Chasing 258, they reached 206-3 before play was halted, winning by 17 runs on the DLS method. Tamash Raaj led the scoring with a composed half century, while Srivishnu Datla (46 not out) and Amar Ali (35 not out) guided the side towards the target.
The 2nd XI and 3rd XI both faced strong opposition and were unable to secure wins. At U15 level, all three teams were defeated, though the U15As impressed in their pursuit of a large total, with Raphael Gaudin (33), James Metcalf (30), and Kush Trichur (30) all contributing. The U15Bs came agonisingly close, losing by just 6 runs, with Jaiveer Pandya scoring an outstanding 70.
The U14As were similarly unfortunate, losing by only 3 runs despite an excellent bowling spell from Owen Rees, who took 3-17. The U14Bs recorded one of the day’s highlights with a victory, thanks to Seve Seaby’s 31 and Kosti Cortas’ 3-19, while the U14Cs were defeated. Overall, despite winning two of nine matches, SPS competed well against a very strong cricketing school.
