1st XV Victorious over Wellington

A stunning victory by the 1st XV over formidable opponents Wellington College was the headline news in English Schools Rugby this weekend.

The impressive Wellington XV included many Internationals and Academy players, but they could not score the winning try in a second half, that saw St Paul’s fight bravely with fourteen men into a strong wind. The 12-7 victory toppled Wellington off the top of the Daily Mail Schools National League Competition.

The result is the highlight of a very impressive season for SPS Rugby. In recent weeks the school has won fifteen out of sixteen games in the Kings College School fixture and fourteen out of seventeen against Eton. The U15’s have enjoyed a remarkable season and have pushed on to the later stages of the Nat West National Cup – The next round will be played on January 14th against Brighton College on Big Side at St Paul’s School.
