Two St Paul’s students represented the UK at the 2015 International Informatics Olympiad Competition in Kazakhstan, bringing home a silver medal.
Open to all students in full-time pre-university education in Britain, the Informatics Olympiad competition involved solving problems against the clock, using nothing more than pen, paper and a computer.
The competition, which was broken up into three stages, commenced with a three-hour test carried out in schools across the UK, solving a range of problems using a computer. This was followed by a country final held in Cambridge earlier in March.
Two boys from St Paul’s School, Joe Benton and David Shah, were among just four chosen to represent Britain, competing against 85 other countries and 322 competitors in Kazakhstan at the end of July.
Joe gained a silver medal (narrowly missing out on gold) with David following creditably behind.`
