Great news to start off a new academic year as Paulines and Old Paulines achieve success at the 2016 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam.
Current pupils Freddie Davidson, Bertie Woodward-Fisher, Seb Benzecry and Vlad Saigau and Old Pauline, Arthur Doyle, represented Great Britain in the Junior and U23 categories, bringing home two silver and one bronze medal.
Freddie stroked the Junior Men’s Four boat into second position behind a strong Romanian crew with Arthur matching his success stroking the U23 Men’s Eight. Both boys have had a busy year, with Freddie stroking the St Paul’s First Eight at Henley earlier this year and Arthur rowing with Harvard University as a freshman.
Bertie finished 10th in the Junior Men’s Coxed Four, while Seb and Vlad formed part of the Junior Men’s Eight; winning a hard fought bronze medal coming from behind to row through New Zealand.
We’re excited to share recent student achievements: Eighth Formers excelled at the Junior Rowing Championships in Canada, Fergus and Rohan (Sixth Form) reached the U15 National final, Shiv Ahluwalia (Sixth Form) qualified for the Junior European Open in Cadiz, Sasha Georget-Roukline (Upper Eighth) was selected for Team GB at the FIE event in Amsterdam, and Aditya Bhimalingam (Sixth Form) placed fourth in the National Youth Junior Bouldering competition.
Shiv Ahluwalia (Sixth Form) won the European Junior Championship qualifier at The Caversham on 18 August with a one-over-par 73, securing his spot at the 32nd Junior European Open in Cadiz, Spain, in partnership with Sky Sports, this November
