Great news to start off a new academic year as Paulines and Old Paulines achieve success at the 2016 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam.
Current pupils Freddie Davidson, Bertie Woodward-Fisher, Seb Benzecry and Vlad Saigau and Old Pauline, Arthur Doyle, represented Great Britain in the Junior and U23 categories, bringing home two silver and one bronze medal.
Freddie stroked the Junior Men’s Four boat into second position behind a strong Romanian crew with Arthur matching his success stroking the U23 Men’s Eight. Both boys have had a busy year, with Freddie stroking the St Paul’s First Eight at Henley earlier this year and Arthur rowing with Harvard University as a freshman.
Bertie finished 10th in the Junior Men’s Coxed Four, while Seb and Vlad formed part of the Junior Men’s Eight; winning a hard fought bronze medal coming from behind to row through New Zealand.
We’re now halfway through the rugby season, and it’s going brilliantly! SPS celebrated seven wins over the weekend, including unbeaten runs for the U14A, U15A, and U16A teams.
It has been a great week for sport at St Paul's! We are proud of every student who competed, from cross-country runners braving Wimbledon Common for their first fixture of the season, to our rugby, golf, and rackets teams battling hard on every pitch.
