The 2050 prize aims to find the leaders who can show us how it is possible to become more responsible consumers. Tutor groups are tasked with creating novel solutions and incentives to tackle a variety of pressing environmental issues pertinent to St Paul’s School.
With this year’s competition now concluded, Miss Penney’s tutor group of Blurton house were crowned our most recent winners with their home made tutor food drive, being awarded £700 in prize money.
Each week a member of the tutor group would prepare homemade tutor food for the whole group to share, with a key factor being using ingredients with minimal plastic and wasteful packaging in their creation. They showcased baking interests, fostering of new cooking skills and encouraged an excellent bond as a group, with them saying ‘we always looked forward to what new treat we’d get during Friday tutors, it became a real event’. With 2.25 million pieces of trash being dropped in the UK every single day, initiatives such as this go a long way towards changing that, and we encourage you all to do the same. With their winnings, they plan to purchase a refurbished PS5 and accessories, along with a variety of house plants to add some green life to their tutor room.
