On Tuesday, January 30, we had the privilege of welcoming guest speaker Joan Salter MBE, who shared her childhood experience during the Holocaust. Further details about Joan’s story can be found here. Additionally, the History Society and J Soc will be joined by renowned Holocaust Camp survivor and author Ben Midler. He will give a talk about his experiences during WW2 on Friday at lunchtime.
The Rare Books Room is paying tribute to students who changed their names due to anti-Semitism and anti-German sentiments. Outside the Kayton Library they are displaying books which were destroyed during the Nazi book burning ceremonies of 1933. Books considered subversive or in opposition to Nazi values were targeted, as well as any work by a Jewish author.
