St Paul’s School is delighted to congratulate our departing Year 13 pupils following the release of A Level results today. Their outstanding achievements are testament to their hard work and dedication, and also to the staff who supported them.
58% of all grades were at A* with 88% at A*- A. This means that more than three quarters of our pupils achieved straight As or higher, and almost a third achieved all A*s. These 2024 results are stronger in every category than those achieved in 2019, pre-Covid.
87% of pupils have met their first choice university offer in the UK and internationally, with 92% meeting first or insurance. These figures demonstrate the great work of the Careers & Universities team in supporting pupils in their applications, as well as the exceptional nature of the grades themselves.
We are also delighted to report some outstanding individual successes:
- Sol Inglis, our out-going School Captain, was the highest performer in the country for A Level Physics.
- Liam Metcalf was one of the highest performers nationally for OCR’s Further Mathematics.
- Elwen Cameron was one of the highest performers in Art and Design: Fine Art by the exam board OCR.
We also had another of the highest performers in Art and Design: Fine Art by the exam board OCR, making it the second year in a row that we have had top results in both Art and Design, and Mathematics.
High Master, Sally-Anne Huang, said she was proud of the outgoing Upper Eighths.
“I would like to pay tribute to the teaching team at St Paul’s who have repeatedly gone the extra mile for their students in helping them to fulfil their academic potential. I also want to offer heartfelt congratulations to this fantastic group of young men, whom I first met during the lockdown years when they were starting their GCSEs. They are not just outstanding scholars, as indicated by these exceptional grades, but also fully-rounded individuals who have played in fixtures, taken part in concerts and plays, volunteered and supported one another during their time at the school,” she said.
“Whilst we would always argue that true scholarship is not just about grades and that the full worth of an individual goes far beyond the classroom and measurable achievements of this nature, we would be doing our pupils and staff a disservice if we did not celebrate these exceptionally high results.”
Full exam results will be published in October on our website.
We wish all our 2024 Leavers the very best for the next stage of their lives and educational journeys and look forward to seeing them in December for their first school reunion.
