Academic Achievements

We are delighted that there has been recent success in the DUES Essay Competition (Durham Economics Society) and NCH Essay Competition (New College Humanities) for Kangzi Chan (Lower Eighth) and the New College of Humanities essay competition for Amr Hamid (Lower Eighth).

In the DUES Essay Competition, Kangzi was commended for his Economics essay. In the NCH Essay Competition, he won first prize out of over 6000 essay entries, responding to the question: ‘How relevant is economics during a pandemic, and in what way might economists make things better?’

Congratulations must also go to Amr Hamid (Lower Eighth), who recently submitted an essay on teen mental health, which has been shortlisted in the New College of Humanities essay competition. He responded to the essay question: “Discuss the causes of mental health issues in the modern world”.

“I submitted this essay because the subject of how the brain works has interested me for a while. Mental health and particularly mental health in teenagers is a topic of great concern to me, so I took the opportunity to research and write an essay more to further my understanding.” Amr Hamid (Lower Eighth)
