As of September 2019, we will making changes to our 7+ and 8+ selection procedure. Please find details of the changes below.
The Examination Day:
Candidates will be invited to sit tests in English, Mathematics and Reasoning. From this year, we will be changing the English task from a creative writing paper to a dictation. The Mathematics and Reasoning tasks will remain similar to previous years, with The Reasoning task results being weighted according to age. An age appropriate suggested reading list and a maths syllabus are available.
The Group Assessment Process:
Boys who perform well in the written tests will be invited back for a half day group assessment. Group sizes will be approximately 10. This process will involve a Maths lesson, an English lesson and group problem-solving task. At the same time, parents will have the opportunity to meet with the Head of St Paul’s Juniors. The group assessments will take place during the two weeks following the tests, enabling boys to know their results within a fortnight.
For more information about entry to St Paul's Juniors at 8+ please contact the School Secretary, Louise McAlpine.
