Appointment of Head of St Paul’s Juniors

We are delighted to inform our community that we have appointed Oliver Snowball, currently headmaster at Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School, to be the next head of St Paul’s Juniors.

Oliver is an experienced head who has been in his current role in Clapham for over five years – leading a period of strengthened academic and pastoral goals being implemented at the school. Prior to that he spent ten years at Kent College, Pembury latterly as deputy head and then interim head of the prep school. Oliver read English at Nottingham before gaining a Masters in Drama/Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths. He is married to Claire and has a 16 year old daughter and 11 year old son.

At St Paul’s, we take very seriously our duty to stimulate and nurture the incredible intellectual curiosity of our pupils whilst remembering always that childhood is a precious time for exploring new interests and making time for fun and friendship. Oliver is driven by a desire to see the young people in his charge flourish both intellectually and as individuals and I am delighted that we have been able to make such a strong appointment to carry on Maxine Shaw’s excellent work. Oliver was initially trained as a Senior School teacher and has, in the past, led curriculum development for Years 7 and 8. He is, therefore, well-placed to lead a school with 13+ transfer.

On behalf of the governors Richard Cassell, chair, welcomes this appointment. “Oliver was the strongest candidate in a very high quality field and impressed everyone with his ability to lead the junior school forward, building on the truly excellent work of Maxine Shaw. He showed a strong commitment to nurturing all of the children in the school as well as maintaining the highest academic standards, and encouraging the pupils to enjoy a range of co-curricular activities. Oliver demonstrated a commitment to continuing to let pupils have fun as well as learning and working hard.”
