Over the bank holiday weekend Harry Grindle competed in the England U17 Championships at Bedford. He ran a new personal best (and school record) of 50.30 seconds in the heats to qualify for the final, where he finished in 7th place.
The final was only Harry’s sixth race at the distance, having moved up from the shorter sprints. Clearly he has already displayed a particular aptitude for one lap racing, and is keen to develop this further in the future.
The competition follows his recent silver medal win at the South of England Athletics Championships held at Crystal Palace. At the time, Harry had ran a new personal best of 50.46 seconds, showing steady improvement with each race.
