Biology Olympiads and Challenge

Tim Birkle (Year 13, Upper Eighth) has been selected for the UK team in this year’s International Biology Olympiad, to be held in Aarhus, Denmark.

Earlier this year, Tim and Bryn Brunnstrom (also Upper Eighth) made it to the final of the British Biology Olympiad at Warwick University. With 30 medals awarded, 17 of them gold, this has been the most successful BBO ever for Pauline biologists, making St Paul’s the leading British school in the Olympiad.

In this year’s Biology Challenge, 128 Fifth formers (Year 10) gained medals, 56 of which were gold — another record. Run by the Society of Biology, the Challenge tests pupils aged between 13 and 15 on their general knowledge of biology and natural history.
