Four Lower Eighth pupils competed at the Central London Joutes Oratoires (debates in French) this year at St Paul’s Girls’ School
This year’s motions were:
- L’augmentation des prix de l’énergie est une bonne chose. (The increase of energy prices is a good thing)
- Les événements sportifs internationaux devraient être attribués uniquement à des pays respectant les droits humains. (International sporting events should only be assigned to countries who respect human rights)
- Voter devrait être obligatoire (Voting should be compulsory)
Krish Chandaria and Luke Magalhaes won one of three debates; Nabil Alizadeh and John Moretti won all three and progressed to the semi-final, where they won in the first debate against Westminster, but narrowly lost to Lady Eleanor Holles in the second. Congratulations to all pupils who took part in this event.
