Charities Updates

Between now and the end of the year, we have a wide range of charity and volunteering events for your calendar, offering plenty of opportunities for pupil and parent involvement.

All the information, including relevant links, contact details, and dates, is outlined below!

Fundraising

Movember Fundraiser (until 30 November)

Oscar, Luca, Aden, Zak, Arthur (Lower Eighth), Felix (Sixth Form), Manny (Upper Eighth), and others have joined forces this November to raise money for the men’s mental health and cancer charity, Movember. The charity focuses on raising awareness and funding for issues that men often avoid discussing due to stigma.

At the time of writing, their efforts have raised over £2,800, and we are currently ranked 18th out of 370 schools participating in the appeal. If you would like to support the team, or an individual fundraiser, you can do so through this link.

Shaping Our Future: Next Steps Christmas Appeal (25 November – 13 December)

We are excited to announce that, this year, a generous Old Pauline has offered to match all donations made to this year’s Christmas Appeal up to a value of £100,000. This means that every pound donated as part of the Christmas Appeal until the end of term will be doubled. We hope you will join us to help unlock the full amount and give the gift of education this Christmas.

Every new regular gift of £15.09 a month or more, set up during the Christmas Appeal 2024, will receive a free limited-edition St Paul’s Christmas bauble designed by Stella McCartney (whilst stocks last!).

Christmas Candy Canes with SPGS (2 – 13 December)

SPS is joining forces with St Paul’s Girls’ School (SPGS) to raise money for Shooting Star Children’s Hospice and Street Child (the two SPGS Charities of the Year). Students will be able to make a donation to the charity fundraising page and then make an order to send a candy cane to a student in either school. These will be delivered in the last week of term (You go, Glen Coco!).

Non-Uniform Day (13 December)

As always, the last Friday of the term will be a non-uniform day for staff and pupils, and a charity collection for our Local Charity Partners (Little VillageLondon Sports TrustAllChild & Man & Boy). The theme will be Summer in Winter (think Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, bucket hats). A minimum donation of £2 will be collected from everyone not in school uniform. Payment can be made via cash or card.

Collections

WrapUp London Winter Coat Drive (25 to 29 November)

Jaiveer Pandya, Rayan Khan, Rayan Doerig-Bal & Nicholas Menounos (Fourth Form) have been inspired by the work of WrapUp London. Every morning next week before 9am, you will be able to drop off any pre-worn Winter coats into the SPS Reception, where they will be sorted and donated to the charity and re-distributed to those in need. If you are in need of de-cluttering your wardrobe, this could be your perfect opportunity!

Little Village Clothing Drive (9 to 13 December)

In order to support our new SPS Local Charity Partner, Little Village, we will be organising a collection of baby grows and pyjamas (ages 0-6 years), though any donations (new or pre-worn) would be warmly welcomed. There will be more information on this event in the coming weeks.

Volunteering

Christmas Meals on Wheels (24 & 25 December)

An SPS tradition that shows no signs of stopping: every year, members of our community join together to share some Christmas joy with those not able to enjoy their Christmas with the people they love. Volunteers (pupils or parents) are needed for packaging of Christmas meals in school on 24 December; if you’d like to be involved, please email Mr King (PJK@stpaulsschool.org.uk). On Christmas Day, there is also a volunteering opportunity to deliver these packaged meals to people spending Christmas alone in the local area. Pupils and parents are welcome to sign up for this, but please note that a driving license is required for at least one member of your party; for more details and to register interest, please contact Ms Sutherland (shelagh.sutherland@spgs.org).
