Cricket Report

SPS V RGS Guildford, Saturday 15 June

The block fixture on Saturday against RGS Guildford was significantly impacted by the rain and unfortunately, the U15B, U15C and U14C matches had to be cancelled. At home, we did manage to host the 1st XI, U14A and U14B matches. The 1st XI lost by 19 runs in a very close game, which finished after 7pm, with captain N. Malik making 90 runs, and D. Pandey and N. Bowman both taking 4 wickets each.

The U14As also lost a close match by just 9 runs, while the U14Bs recorded an impressive win by 10 wickets. The stars of the day, however, were undoubtedly groundsmen Marcin Szczupak and Dave Green for their efforts in constantly rolling covers on and off to ensure that wickets were kept dry and therefore play possible in the gaps between the rain.

The 2nd XI and U15As travelled to Guildford and both sides were on course to secure big wins before play was abandoned. S. Shukla recorded impressive figures of 5-17 with the ball. Earlier in the week, the U15Bs and U14Bs had good wins against Fulham Boys’ School, while the U14As were unfortunately knocked out of the Surrey Anderson Cup in the quarter-finals by a very strong Epsom side.
