Cricket Report

On Saturday, we had an exciting and successful block fixture versus RGS Guildford.

In the 1st XI match, Guildford won the toss and chose to bat on a good pitch with a fast outfield. After 50 overs, they had amassed 237-8, and we knew it would be a tough chase. Captain K. Patel got us off to a flyer before being dismissed for 64 to a ball that was kept low. The foundation was set, however, and sensible and mature batting from our middle order got us over the line to win by 5 wickets, with 3 overs to spare. S. Bhatia made 53 not out, A. Patel scored 33 not out while R. Walter scored 33. An excellent all round team performance, making it 6 wins from 7 matches heading into the final block fixture this coming weekend, before the festival in Edinburgh the week after.

The 2nd XI lost by 3 wickets, although there were good performances by N. Dahl, who scored 38 and T. Salter who took 3-35. All our U15s side won. For the U15As A. Ali scored 55 and S. Datla 49. In the U15Bs A. Sankaye scored 52, G. Ashton 43 with T. Falconer taking 3-28. The U14As and Bs also won while the U14C lost. Notable scores for the U14As include A. Bhatia making 33 not out and Y. Prasad and R. de Silva taking 3 wickets each. L. Shikder scored 63 for the U14Bs with G. Simha taking 3 wickets. N Younis and Z. Okada scored 38 and 33 respectively for the U14Cs.

Throughout the week, we had a mini-block fixture against a local partnership school, Fulham Boys’ School. Mid-week our U15B and U14Bs beat their U15 and U14 sides respectively, while on Saturday our 3rd XI hosted their senior team. The match was played in great spirits. Batting first we made 173-5 in 30 overs with A. Hasan making 56 not out and M. Mehta scoring 51 not out. FBS managed to chase the target down with one ball to spare to win by 4 wickets!

Unfortunately, on Thursday the U5As lost away to Harrow in the semi-final of the U15 Middlesex cup. Good luck to our U14As on Tuesday who go in the semi-final of the U14 cup, also away at Harrow.
