Congratulations to cross-country Co-Captain, Benjy Street (Upper Eighth), who won the Surrey County U20 Cross-Country Championships at Lloyd Park in Croydon on 4 January.
His finishing kick took him from 4th to 1st in the final 400m (overtaking two athletes who have competed for GB) to win in 18 minutes, 34 seconds for 5.7km. On New Year’s Eve, he also set a new PB in 5K on the track of 14 minutes, 52 seconds at the Podium 5K meet in Battersea Park, more than half a minute faster than his previous best.
Owen Xu (Sixth Form) came 24th in the Surrey County U17 race; Leau Roch (Fifth Form) came 6th and Cyrus Sheikh (Fourth Form) came 42nd in the Surrey County U15 race.
Chris Garagnon (Lower Eighth) and Sai Bhatia (Upper Eighth) have both set new personal best times in local Parkruns; Chris finished in 17.26 and Sai in 18.05, both taking 40s+ off their previous bests. Chris also won his first Parkrun, coming first out of 633 runners at Gunnersbury on Saturday.
