England Lions Call-Up

On Saturday 30 May, Tamash (Lower Eighth) was called up to the England Lions cricket squad – as 12th man – in their match against South Africa ‘A’. This is a huge achievement and a valuable learning experience for Tamash to have been sharing a dressing room with Test cricketers and several First Class players, alongside some of the best coaches in the sport.

Tamash said: “Acting as the 12th man for the England Lions was a surreal experience. It was incredibly exciting to share the dressing room with players I have watched in major franchise competitions over the past few years, such as Dan Mousley and Rehan Ahmed, as well as teammates I have known with my years at Kent, including Ekansh Singh, all in an England shirt. The day provided an interesting insight into the standards, preparation, and professionalism required at the highest level of the game. I was able to observe how players and coaches approached different situations, and how players and coaches analysed the game to great depths at every point they could. One of the highlights was speaking with Brendon McCullum and Freddie Flintoff on the balcony about my own cricket and hearing their thoughts on the match as it unfolded in front of us. Overall, it was a day of cricket I won’t ever forget, and I am more than honoured to have been given this opportunity.”

Congratulations to Tamash and good luck for this summer’s cricket and beyond.
