Last week, a team of Lower Eighths – Cillian Bramham, Austen David, Dariush Ghaffarpour, Aarav Kushagra, Ronit Mendonca, Luca Orlandi, Faris Sharaiha and Ravi Walker – competed successfully in the South-East Regional heat of the European Youth Parliament competition.
The team debated a range of issues, including protecting jobs from the impact of AI, fair treatment of asylum seekers, tackling drink-spiking, gender stereotypes, juvenile delinquency and recidivism, addressing colonial legacies, re-igniting Europe’s economy and solving the problems caused by over-tourism. Well done to the team for progressing to the UK Finals at Liverpool University later this year.
