An Evening with The Reverend Richard Coles

31 JANUARY 2022

7:00pm-8:00pm

We are delighted to welcome Reverend Richard Coles as our headline speaker for a week of events at St Paul’s School to celebrate LGBT+ History Month.

As the only Church of England priest to have had a number one hit single and been a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, it’s fair to say Richard Coles’ life has been full of variety. Shooting to prominence in the 1980s as the instrumentalist of the Communards, Richard turned his back on pop and became ordained in 2005. Now a passionate voice for inclusion and diversity, Richard’s journey to self-acceptance has been a complex one: his inability to reconcile his sexual identity with the homophobia of the age in the 1970s, led to a drug overdose and time spent in a psychiatric hospital. Since then, Richard has become one of the nation’s most popular broadcasters and writers, whether it be through co-presenting Radio Four’s Saturday Live or via his best-selling memoirs, the most recent of which (The Madness of Grief) provides a moving account of the loss of his partner, David.

It is free to register for any of our virtual events. However, if you wish to express your appreciation for the programme, please make a donation to the Shaping our Future bursary fund and help talented boys benefit from a St Paul’s education, please click here.

Suggested donation – £10 per household.
