Kiss Me, Kate: Senior Production

30 NOVEMBER 2022 - 03 DECEMBER 2022

St Paul's School - Samuel Pepys Theatre

Life imitates art in this hilarious musical comedy in which the destinies of Shakespeare’s characters and their real-life players delightfully intertwine.

Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter, Book by Sam and Bella Spewack
Directed by Christian Anthony

Boasting a luscious Cole Porter score, with standards such as ‘Another Op’nin’, Another Show’, ‘Always True to You in My Fashion’ and ‘Too Darn Hot’, Kiss Me, Kate was the first-ever winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1949 and now, over 70 years later, it continues to shine as one of the most beloved musicals of Broadway’s Golden Age.

Set in a Baltimore theatre, Kiss Me, Kate follows a company of actors staging a new musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew; producer Fred Graham and his ex-wife (and leading lady) Lilli Vanessi are not on the best of terms, but the show must go on and soon their offstage sparring begins to spill over into the first night performance.
