The St Paul’s School Parents’ Group is looking forward to the annual Pauline Perspectives debate evening.
A highlight of the term, the evening will feature some spirited debates between members from the many branches of the Pauline community.
An evening of intellectual contests and witty repartee, it is a fantastic evening for the whole family!
This year’s motion is This House believes that the Rise of Artificial Intelligence will do more harm than good to society.
Speakers
Robbie Stamp OP: Chief Executive of Bioss International, currently working on ISO recommendations on Board Governance and AI as a member of the British Standard Institute’s National Standing Committee on Artificial Intelligence. He also attends the All-Party Parliamentary Group on AI.
Manuel Magalhaes: Founder of Materra Systemic Labs, an ecosystem enabler changing the way organisations change the world. His career spans over twenty years across deep-tech, mostly within the Defence and National Security domains.
Natasha Loder: The Economist’s Health Policy Editor. She covers a wide range of topics in medicine, technology, pharma and science, including Artificial Intelligence.
Dr Daniel Brigham: A starred first student in Philosophy from the University of York and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. His thesis was supervised by Prof. Tim Crane and focused on Bertrand Russell and the metaphysics of belief. After his PhD he engaged in post-doctoral research under a grant from the New Directions in the Study of Mind Project and then taught for a year as College Lecturer in Philosophy at Downing College, Cambridge. His published work concerns the nature of thoughts, facts, and truth. He has taught Theology and Philosophy at St. Paul’s since 2017 and is also a careers and universities adviser and Head of Junior Prizegiving.
