The Topical Tuesday series sees guest speakers from the St Paul’s Community share their take on the current environment.

Philip Bernie OP, Head of BBC TV Sport will discuss how the world of sport and sport media has changed in the past 30 years and in particular the challenges for the sporting world since the pandemic hit.

He will reflect on what makes great sport broadcasting and what makes great sport broadcasters as he recollects some of the great names in sport, shares his greatest experiences and challenges and the consequences for sports and sports coverage during the current state of the world.

A big summer of sport is due to take place with the return of the Wimbledon Championships, the Euros, the Lions tour, the Olympic and Paralympic Games and cricket’s inaugural Hundred tournament, to name just a few, Philip will talk through what lies ahead for sport – does anyone know?!

Philip Bernie is the Head of BBC TV Sport – responsible for all TV Sport output on the BBC.

Philip joined the BBC in 1984 as a Production Trainee after leaving university and held various positions including Editor of Football Focus and Match Of The Day, Editor of the Olympic Games, Common Wealth Games, Wimbledon and the World Cup, before becoming Head of BBC TV Sport.
