Firefly Racing travelled to Goodwood Motor Circuit last weekend for the International Final, a nervously anticipated event that would determine the overall F24+ Championship winners. The team were also defending their Engineering Championship title, adding even more excitement to the day.
Pole position was hotly contested between Firefly, Green Arrow, and The Egg, which meant that every second on the track mattered. After a tricky practice session, when Firefly briefly came to a halt due to a slipped chain (thankfully a quick fix), the junior F24 races ran smoothly and set the stage for the crucial middle senior race.
With smart strategy and steady driving, Firefly finished sixth in the kit car category, securing a fantastic second place overall in the Championship, which is an outstanding result against tough competition.
Judges from Ford were also assessing the Engineering Award, and Firefly’s innovative work impressed them once again. Their display included a racing simulator that demonstrated how drivers train for race days, which stood out among the other teams.
Firefly were crowned winners of the Ford International Engineering Award for the fourth consecutive year, an amazing achievement that reflects the team’s dedication!
Special thanks goes to everyone that was able to go and support at Goodwood.
