Just before half term we had fixtures against Winchester and Christ’s Hospital.
Against Christ’s Hospital, our 1st (Freddie (Sixth Form), Josh (Sixth Form), Will (Upper Eighth) & Euan (Upper Eighth)) and 2nd (Nadim (Fifth Form), Patrick (Sixth Form), Milan (Sixth Form) & Alex (Fifth Form)) IVs (which were mixed U18, U16 and U15 teams) achieved convincing wins. Our U14A IV (Ranvir (Fourth Form), Alex (Fourth Form), Ian (Fourth Form) & James (Fourth Form) also won by a large margin (122-45 points), in what was their first fives fixture for the school. Ranvir won his singles 11-0 and looks to have a very promising future as a fives player.
Winchester had too much strength in depth for us, winning both the U18 and U15 matches – but Freddie continued his unbeaten run in the singles, defeating the Winchester No1 seed, who is two years older, by a comfortable margin (11-3). It is over a year since Freddie has lost a game against any school opposition. Freddie & Josh narrowly defeated Winchester’s top pair and so also remain undefeated against any school senior pair since their victory at the West of England in January – which is very impressive for an U16 pair.
