On Wednesday 15 November, the 1st XI Football team hosted Dunottar School in the second round of the ISFA bowl, kicking off in the glorious sunshine on the 3G.
Captain, Nicholas, managed to motivate the players to a fast start with St Paul’s getting two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match, scored by Danny and Thomas. This settled any nerves that may have come with playing in a knockout competition and allowed the team to play in the fluid and positive manner that they were hoping.
An excellent first-time finish from Thomas took the score to 3-0 after a diagonal through ball from Oscar was weighted to perfection. Dunottar then scored a fantastic goal, capitalising from some sloppiness in midfield from St Paul’s, making the next score an important one. Fortunately, following some excellent skill by Juaquin, the ball fell at the feet of Aris, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net. Another goal was scored by Nicholas, before Thomas secured his hat-trick and took the score to 6-1.
We now look forward to the next round of the competition, with the competition draw to be done next week.
