Football Report – 18 January

We’re pleased to report some excellent results in a very competitive first League Fixture of the season against Tonbridge. The 1st XI won 2-0 with Captain, Dan, converting the penalty that he had won at the beginning of the second half before Ollie (Man of the Match) rounded the keeper to make the points safe. The first half had been a physical match-up, but it was pleasing to see St Paul’s control the game from halftime onwards with tactical awareness, smart positioning and tenacious tackling from the likes of Freddie.

Elsewhere, the Senior teams are still looking for cohesiveness and cutting edge but will improve with more training sessions. The 16s, heavily depleted by exams and injuries, lost narrowly in the As, with Tonbridge showing impressive depth in the Bs and Cs. Meanwhile, the U15s took a clean sweep to the delight of Mr Stewart and Dr McDonnell; it sounds as though this year group is a force to be reckoned with.

Our thanks go to the many staff and pupils who came to support on Saturday – the teams always appreciate it.
