Football Report

Please see below for the weekly Football Report.

It was a busy week for the St Paul’s Football Club this week with two midweek cup games being played in the seniors. The 1st XI travelled to North London to play against The American School in London in the quarter final of the ISFA bowl where they played fantastically in tough pitch and wind conditions. A hat-trick from Thomas Evans-Alcantara and a high class goal from Nik Tredre was enough to take St Paul’s through to the Semi Final of the competition with a 4-0 win. The 2nd XI came up against Harrow in the 2nd XI London Cup where they put up a fight in a high standard match. A goal from Conrad Gardey was enough to separate the teams as the 2nd XI progressed to the next round with a 1-0 win.

On Saturday, there was a friendly block fixture against local opposition KCS Wimbledon. The 1st XI continued their midweek momentum and defeated KCS 2-1 with both goals coming from Thomas Evans-Alcantara. The 2nd XI suffered their first defeat of the year, losing 0-1 in a tight affair. The 3rd XI were magnificent on the 3G, winning 4-1 and the 4th XI had a hatrick hero in Rory Walter as they won their game 4-2. The 5th XI won their match comfortably 4-0 and the 6th XI narrowly won their match 4-3 in a goal fest away from home.

The U16A were outstanding, once again, demonstrating a huge amount of attacking threat and were successful in scoring lots of goals, winning 5-2 in a scrappy and physical match. The U16B and U16C team struggled to do the same as they lost their games 0-3 and 0-2 respectively where both teams fell short of the high standards that they set themselves and the U16D team could not break the deadlock and drew their match 0-0.

The U15A were much improved in their match this weekend and were winning their game with only seconds to go before an outstanding goal from a KCS attacker rescued them a 1-1 draw. The U15B team were involved in a high scoring affair where their 3 goals were not enough and they lost their game 3-4 whilst the U15C team could not score the chances that they created and lost their game 0-3. The U15D team however have continued their unbeaten run and won 7-2 including a fantastic hat trick from Rishab Chatterjee.

The final block results were: St Paul’s won 7, drew 1 and lost 6.
