Football Results vs KCS

A busy Saturday of football against King’s College School, Wimbledon brought a mix of emphatic wins, tightly contested matches and some unavoidable cancellations across the age groups.

The headline results came from the senior sides who made the journey down the A3 to Wimbledon. The 1st XI put in a confident and controlled performance to secure a deserved 4–1 victory. Their attacking dominance was clear throughout, with goals from Charlie Pockney (Lower Eighth), who struck twice, Sam Francombe (Upper Eighth) and Alessandro Zaccaria (Lower Eighth). Despite the convincing scoreline, there was a sense that the margin could have been even greater, such was the number of chances created. The 2nd XI were even more clinical, producing a commanding 5–0 win built on sharp finishing and strong defensive organisation. Will Hillary (Lower Eighth) led the way with an excellent hat-trick, showcasing superb movement and instincts in the six-yard box, while goals from Jackson Pound (Lower Eighth) and Andrew Berko-Boateng (Upper Eighth) completed an outstanding team display.

Back at home, a number of fixtures were unfortunately cancelled, including matches for the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th XIs, along with the U16A and U16B teams.

Priority was given to the U16C and U16D fixtures, with back-to-back matches taking place on the 3G pitch. The U16C side put in a spirited performance but were narrowly defeated 2–1 after a hard-fought contest. The U16D team, however, delivered one of the performances of the day, recording an emphatic 7–0 victory. Their display was marked by excellent teamwork, energy and attacking intent from start to finish.

The U15 age group faced a demanding set of away fixtures. The U15A team were involved in an entertaining encounter but ultimately fell to a 4–2 defeat. The U15B side showed real resilience in a constantly shifting game, earning a well-fought 2–2 draw. The U15C team were unable to find a breakthrough and went down 3–0. The drama peaked with the U15D match, which finished 2–2 after extra time before being decided by penalties. Holding their nerve, the team claimed a 4–3 shootout victory, highlighted by a crucial save from Jonny O’Shea (Fifth Form) that sealed a memorable and character-filled win.

Overall, it was a Saturday full of strong performances, valuable lessons and plenty of positives to take into the next round of fixtures.
