Goodwood Season Opener

Team Firefly raced in the Goodwood Season Opener on Sunday.

FF01, made up of Fifth and Sixth Form pupils, did a huge amount of work in the weeks leading up to the race, rebuilding the car almost from scratch. Their hard work paid off as they finished higher than ever, finishing 12th out of 57 competitors.

FF02, our Eighth Form car, raced their new driver Ilya Tchevela for the first time. He did a fantastic job and the car finished in ninth place, giving them their first ever qualifying points towards the championship. They were also the highest-placed school in the race, with the teams above them being Engineering firms or University teams. George Worledge and Tanmay Lad also impressed the judges with their Vehicle Dynamics Simulator and so they were awarded the Siemens Digital Award.

The Fourth Form team in FF03 had their first ever race. They not only achieved the Portfolio Award for their fantastic manufacturing diary they have been keeping since October, but also finished third out of all the Kit Cars competing – giving Team Firefly its first Race Trophy.

Over the day the three cars drove a combined distance of 199.4 miles around the Goodwood track.
