Head of the Charles

The St Paul’s School VIII, racing in the Youth VIIIs division, successfully defended their title at the Head of the Charles on Sunday.

Starting number one, they rowed away from the opposition to win by just over 9s from 2nd place Marin County. They are the first British crew to successfully defend a win at the Head of the Charles.

Showing good strength in depth, a coxed four from St Paul’s finished 10th in the Youth Fours division; this is the best result the School has achieved in this category. Finally, not to be left out, Bobby Thatcher – the school’s Director of Rowing – substituted in to a Harvard Masters VIII which won the Senior Masters (40+) division. Full results can be seen here.
