St Paul’s School Named Finalist in Independent School of the Year for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

St Paul’s School has been named a finalist in the Independent School of the Year for Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) category.

This is the second year in a row that St Paul’s has received this accolade, and we are delighted that the positive impact of our DEIJ strategy is visible across the school community and beyond.

Over the last year, pupil leadership has flourished, with senior pupils delivering PSHE lessons on gender, masculinity, and anti-racism to younger years. Reflective justice measures have deepened pupil understanding of the real-life impact of discrimination, fostering a culture of empathy and accountability. Our themed weeks and Equality Society have strengthened pupil engagement with diverse perspectives, while curriculum reviews have led to richer representation in classroom materials.

The DEIJ programme extends from curriculum reviews to co-curricular life, including inclusive talks, guest speakers, and bespoke interventions such as workshops on masculinity in sport or race in dance. Crucially, the programme belongs to the whole school – driven by leadership but shaped by the voices and experiences of pupils, staff, and families.

Mr Tyler John, Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, said “We are honoured to be recognised as finalists for this award. This acknowledgement affirms the importance of fostering a community where every individual feels valued, respected, and able to thrive. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead this work within such a forward-thinking school, and for the collective dedication of colleagues, pupils, and everyone within the St Paul’s community, who make our inclusive culture possible. Together, we continue to ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion remain at the heart of our values and practice, so that everyone can bring their most authentic selves to our school.”
